Greenapple at Cane Creek Triathlon

Join the doctors from Greenapple Sports & Wellness at this weekend's Cane Creek Triathlon in Waxhaw. Stop by our booth to experience ART (Active Release Technique) that is used on top athletes from around the world.
Featured in conjunction with the Ironman Series, ART is a patented state of the art soft tissue system/movement based on massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.
We are thrilled to see so many of our patients participating in this Saturday's Cane Creek Triathlon. We look forward to continuing to support their great achievements.
See you there!

Hype and truth about caffeine
Truth: CAFFEINE IMPROVES CARB BURNING A review of ongoing research recently revealed that caffeinated drinks don't make you pee that much more than equal amounts of beverages without the buzz. The stimulant also doesn't worsen the effects of summertime heat. In fact, caffeine makes you feel better. Numerous studies have shown that it lowers your rate of perceived exertion while improving your strength, endurance and mental performance. Even better, researchers from the University of Birmingham, in England, found that riders who drank a caffeinated sports beverage burned the drink's carbs 26 percent faster than those who consumed a noncaffeinated sports drink, likely because caffeine speeds glucose absorption in the intestine.

750 swim, 10 mile bike, 5k run…and a little ART
This past weekend, Greenapple Sports & Wellness sponsored the 1st Annual Amica Triathlon at Lake Wylie. The event took place at beautiful Camp Thunderbird on the shores of Lake Wylie in the southern sections of greater Charlotte on the North Carolina/South Carolina border.
Dr. Greenapple, Dr. Duffy, and Dr. Clay were out in full force all morning, bringing Active Release, Muscle Testing, and Kinesio taping to all of the participants at the Traithlon. Our booth was booming with energy as the doctors worked with countless participants including many of those who will be participating in upcoming Ironman events.
Congratulations to the top place finishers. And thank you to all the patients who came by the booth to visit us. We look forward to seeing you at the next race!
